The number of homeless people seeking NHS treatment has surged in the past four years, as the homelessness crisis fuels a health crisis, according to a charity.

"You want me to go to hospital and tell them I've got this and that?"Obviously they're not going to listen unless you bring someone like a support worker or a health lead, you have to go with someone, otherwise impossible."It's so frustrating that you don't feel it any more, for me it's become a routine and I'm used to it.

The SHP introduced their own specialised health support services and have since seen an 89% increase in people from the homeless population getting the treatment they need. "We're really keen that we tackle the causes of homelessness, so better support in the community for addiction, better support in the community for mental health and that's through health budgets, but also through local authority budgets.
