A defendant in a murder trial has said "it is ludicrous" when it was suggested to him he was part of an attack on a father-of-five in Nottingham. Ryan Aziz, aged 35, of Lamcote Street, The Meadows, who denies the murder of Darren Davis, was cross-examined by the prosecution over the evidence he gave in his defence on Wednesday, June 28.
He described "just panic between the group" and "they were shouting, 'what the 'F' happened?' And just like a bit of chaos". "I asked what the Hell is going on?" said Aziz in his evidence at Nottingham Crown Court. When he got closer to the group, Laney Aikens and a second man said someone had been stabbed and he was bleeding from his chest. - within three-quarters of an hour, the prosecution say, of the stabbing.
Younis, aged 41, of Graham Street, Radford, a friend of Aziz's, is alleged to have stabbed drug user Mr Davis on August 10, 2022, after a dispute. CCTV clips were shown of Aziz heading to Younis home after he received a seven second call, starting at 3.42pm., where Younis said to, "come round my house now, rapid".
The jury heard Aziz claim Younis was "chucking water from a bucket onto the floor, onto the driveway", and Younis did not know what had happened.
