Irish tourist in coma with devastating injuries after motorbike crash in Thailand

A young Irishman is in a coma and has sustained severe injuries after he was involved in a serious motorbike crash in Thailand.

Tens of thousands has already been raised for Matthew Kennedy and his family in less than 24 hours following news of the tragic incident that took place in the South-East Asian country. The Irishman had been travelling around Asia with a group of friends at the time when the motorbike crash occurred.A GoFundMe has been created by Sean O'Rourke for Matthew and his family for the long and hard journey ahead, including treatments and medical expenses along the way.

"A short while ago as Matthew and a group of his friends were travelling around Asia, Mathew unfortunately got into a serious motorbike crash that has led him to be in a coma along with other severe injuries," the post says. "As it is a tough time for his family, We are raising money to support both him and his family over this long and hard journey ahead along with all the treatments and expenses along the way."So far €30,217 has been raised of the €2,500 target amount, comprised of close to 800 online donors.Another person wrote "Praying for Matthew for a full recovery and home safely" while another said: "It could be any of us.
