National search is underway for a new president and CEO at the Sudbury hospital

A national search is underway for a replacement for Dominic Giroux as the new president and CEO of Health Sciences North, the largest hospital in Northern Ontario.

Giroux left HSN after five and a half years in the top job there. He has accepted an offer to become president and CEO of Hôpital Montfort in Ottawa, his hometown. His new appointment takes effect on July 31. Hartman has an extensive history in Sudbury and at HSN. Hartman began working as a Radiation Therapist at the Northeastern Ontario Regional Cancer Centre when he arrived in Sudbury from Australia in 1992. He then entered into various management positions, first supervising radiation treatment planning then managing the radiation treatment program. Between 2000 and 2004 Hartman was director of the $44M Cancer Centre capital expansion project, said a biography posted on the HSN website.
