Newfoundland and Labrador Health Services is warning of a phone scam making the rounds claiming to be NL Health Services calling from a Central Zone number.
The scammer uses an automated caller who says the call is appointment-related and asks for personal information. NL Health Services says while they take steps to confirm your identity before talking about an upcoming appointment, they will not ask for information such as a Social Insurance Number or banking detail.
Anyone who receives such a call should not engage with the scammer but notify the RCMP or Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre.
