The journalist and broadcaster was diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease in late 2021 and since then has spent his time raising funds for and awareness of the disease, as well as mental health charities in Ireland.

“I'm not doing great,” he told Ryan. “My motor neurones is spreading all over. I can no longer dress myself without help from Claire. “I want to continue raising awareness for Samaritans who are another great group. If there are other groups of charities out there, if there is any way I can help you please let me know.
