The last statement in the article revealing this story protested an incoherent B. Smith, but I saw it differently. She knew what was going on but felt that she “must not say it”. He wants to care for her and live his life, it’s complicated and sad especially for B.

This is B. S. Cheating on one’s sick partner; bringing the side person into that partner’s home & rallying for support of one’s incredible betrayal, is not about “joy”, it’s about feeding one’s primitive ego. B.Smith deserves better.
