The new law titled “Gender Equality bill” was put forward by the left-wing government and approved by the parliament in February, and since then have passed a series of amendments.The duration of the leave from work is in principle unlimited.

According to the law, the duration of the leave depends on how severe the menstrual pain is and how long it lasts.Speaking after the parliamentary vote, Equality Minister Irene Montero said it is a “historic day for the advancement of feminist rights.”
