On Wednesday, North West Health MEC Madoda Sambatha gave a preliminary report on why the babies were placed in boxes instead of incubators.

"I met with management on Friday and they gave me a presentation about what happened. Not all of them were aware as they argued," he said.

"What was found by the investigation of the team from the provincial office is that, yes indeed babies were placed in card boxes, and when we asked the number is four."
