High school students are in the midst of a mental and social health crisis in this country.

Zachary Smith in his junior year in high school lost his father to complications of COVID-19. Smith said the trauma of that loss turned his world upside down. The daily onslaught of news about gun violence and mass shootings did not help. Studies show teenagers across the country are in a mental health crisis.Last year, two days after Thanksgiving, Bre’Yanna Thompson’s childhood friend was gunned down in Harrisburg., whom she had known since sixth grade.
