A pharmacist has warned that a 'sudden' and 'significant' change in your taste that lasts more than a few days could indicate serious illnesses ranging from gall bladder issues and kidney disease to diabetes

said acid reflux causes an unpleasant, sour taste when regurgitating acid and other stomach content into your throat and mouth. The unusual flavour can also link to several health conditions, including nutritional deficiency and dry mouth., nerve disorders, anxiety – and some medications. Those who experience it may also have heartburn, chest pain, and difficulty swallowing.

Cleveland Clinic said:"There's a hormone called glucagon that's produced by your pancreas that works with the hormone insulin to regulate your body's blood sugar levels. While insulin prevents high blood sugar levels, glucagon's job is to keep your blood sugar level from dropping too low."This taste could mean you are dehydrated with a dry mouth, as your body could be producing less saliva to conserve water.

Other symptoms that could accompany a salty taste include a dry mouth, thirst, fatigue, and muscle weakness. According to Healthline, a salty taste could be a sign of oral bleeding caused by eating sharp foods or aggressively brushing your gums. Those who experience a bitter taste may have liver or gall bladder problems or GERD . It can also accompany nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, and fatigue. A bitter taste is also linked to hormonal changes, poor oral health, medication use and stress.
