asserting that this latest version of AI is in fact. Those in AI Ethics and AI Law are notably worried about this burgeoning trend of outstretched claims. You might politely say that some people are overstating what today’s AI can do. They assume that AI has capabilities that we haven’t yet been able to achieve. That’s unfortunate.
I will use four examples consisting of prompts entered into ChatGPT and I will show the direct response generated by ChatGPT. Notice that the prompt tries to establish that the AI app is supposed to pretend to be our friend. In addition, I’ve purposely included the word “lonely” in aims to spark ChatGPT towards narratives and conversations entailing loneliness. To give ChatGPT an action instruction, I tell the AI app to start by telling me that it is my friend.
All in all, this emitted response falls into what I refer to as the calamity of anthropomorphizing by design.
