ShareHealth Initiative, a development organisation focused on empowering and supporting an underserved population has offered free medical outreach to mark the 2023 World Malaria Day.

The free medical intervention, targeted at tackling malaria, was held in four states — Lagos, Delta, Kaduna and Akwa Ibom. The organisation with support from Access Corporation, also distributed 3,000 long-lasting insecticidal nets , including intermittent preventive treatment of malaria for pregnant women.

Rhoda Robinson, executive director of HACEY, said the medical outreach reached 5,000 households with lifesaving information on preventing malaria.Robinson said controlling malaria in Nigeria requires a coordinated and sustained approach involving multiple stakeholders, including the government, healthcare providers, community leaders, and international organisations.

Also speaking, Omobolanle Victor-Laniyan, Access Corporation’s head of sustainability, said more private organisations need to complement government efforts by investing in high-impact projects and interventions in health sectors.
