Rather than resort to control measure which are difficult to enforce, all users of any social media should be obliged to provide complete traceability in terms and conditions. 2 'personal abuse' strikes and out is a good deterrent; all dogs being allowed just one bite.

As the parent of three teenagers I find this utterly heartbreaking. I can see no reason why instagram cannot block certain hashtags Search selfharm & you'll see images of sliced forearms and conversations between individuals encouraging each other to 'cut deeper'. No excuses

Right now there are number of instagram accounts which promote selfharm reported 2 Instagram, reply: no rules broken

How about instead of censoring “distressing” content, we improve the UK’s mental health services. Particularly the services ‘available’ in schools...

Oh yes let’s ban and block things that is always a good sign for things to come

It’s a tragic case but certainly social media is not the sole culprit. Society or a generation of people who are rapped up in cotton wool, then can’t handle the real world. A lack of support too.

Those who run all social media can do more, but chose not too.

Oh here we go. It is social media’s fault. Nit the underfunded mental health programs, not the underfunded schools, not the depression she was suffering and expertly hid from her parents who did not engage actively enough with their child because they were to busy...

It’s always somebody else’s fault except the parents eh

Is social media any different from the playground? Writing on toilet walls, passing notes? Social media maybe a platform but it's not the problem. The solution is better education.

Self harm by someone who really knows. Brave guy trying to help those who see the scars and for those that make them. Self harm---- … The reasoning behind self harm---v

What about parents keeping an eye on what their children do on the Internet?

I'm really sorry for this family's loss, but I do not believe the blame lies with social media. If she hadn't found suicide advice on social media, she would've found it elsewhere. The lack of funding in our mental health services are the more likely factor.

Will that include fake and biased news

Purge it of fakenews media

What happened was appalling and I send my sympathy to the family but social media is one factor to why this happened, friends, school, exam pressure and more are reasons for why suicide is on the rise. Putting the blame on one reason will not solve this issue

Today's culture will always blame someone else. How about... Don't use it 🙄

Distressing content will not go away, it will only get more explicit. Its the parents job to use tools like parental lock etc to shield children from images and video not the media platform. Seems like blame is on everything and everyone but the parents nowadays

But it's OK for mentally ill & perverted adults hiding within charities who have cut their genitals off to visit children in schools & tell them it's OK if they want to mutilate their developing bodies. DamianHinds & AngelaRayner are both working towards transhumanism of humans

Social services should purge bad parenting

Or, toughen your kids up, life’s hard and unfair, if they can’t take a few bad words what chance they got

Obv the minister doesn't know how the Internet works. And why isn't parent taking some responsibility of actively reviewing children browsing history & proactively blocking site. Its not 4 others 2 cencor their children but the parents.

AgGag ?

They should banned Harmful Content and Harmful pictures and videos on instagram.

It’s an almost impossible task to filter the content posted by hundreds of millions of users

Ban everything.

Facebook etc should foot the NHS bill for mental heath services.

The blame culture.

Yes but! That will include anyone who challenges MainstreamMedia too! ControlledMSM DeepState media.

Can I suggest that instead of clutching his necktie the health secretary look at the incredible swathe that has been cut through teen health funding and remedy that?

Children shouldn’t be on the internet. It’s a war zone combined with Sodom and Gomorrah. None too sure about adults either!

is it really a good idea to declare a day to do whatever you want to do on social media? ThatsWhatPurgeMeansRight?

Absolutely
