A study published in BMCPulmMed finds that proportion of pulmonary hypertension complications in chronic obstructive pulmonary disease patients living at high altitude is higher than those living at low altitude.

Normally distributed data is represented by a mean ± standard deviation and number , and skewness distribution data were represented by a median and number . The independent samples t-test and non-parametric test were used to compare measurement data fitting normal and skewed distribution respectively. Additionally, the chi-squared test was used to compare categorical variables.

We observed significant differences in total bilirubin , indirect bilirubin , BNP, platelet , and lymphocyte levels between COPD-PH and COPD-NPH patients living at LA . COPD-PH patients had higher bilirubin and BNP levels than COPD-NPH patients. Conversely, the PLT and LY levels in COPD-PH patients were lower than those in COPD-NPH patients.

Moreover, we observed significant differences in TB, IB, BNP, serum albumin , arterial partial pressure of oxygen and arterial partial pressure of carbon dioxide , arterial oxygen saturation (SaO
