Eric Braeden, who has played Victor Newman on the CBS soap opera “The Young and the Restless” for more than 40 years, announced Friday he is being treated for cancer.
“I’m a little under the weather, but not really much. I work out, but reduced, in a reduced way,” Braeden, 82, revealed in aBraeden said a urologist discovered some “high-grade” cancerous cells while examining his bladder. He shared that he had been suffering prostate issues while recuperating from knee surgery.
The Emmy-winning performer — who also appeared in “Titanic,” as John Jacob Astor IV, and the 2018 heist thriller— said he has been able to continue acting on “Y&R” while undergoing six weeks of immunotherapy treatments. “I’m happy to be able to go to work,” he confessed. “That, I enjoy. It distracts me. I love acting. I love knowing that I entertain people.”
