A viral social media post claims using saunas three times a week significantly reduces your risk of death. There is no good evidence proving saunas lower your risk of death.

Using saunas once a week reduces risk of death from any cause by 30 to 40%, maybe even more. Use of saunas three times a week reduces this a further 30 to 40%.This may be referring to a Finnish study which found an association between sauna use four to seven times a week and a 40% reduced risk of death compared to using saunas once a week. But the study did not compare with people who don’t use saunas, and cannot be used as evidence that saunas themselves caused a decrease in risk of death.

The person in the video says: “If you use sauna one day a week, your risk of dying of all things goes down like 30 to 40%, maybe even more. But interestingly, if you use sauna three times a week, your risk goes down another 30 or 40%.”Bad information about health can introduce confusion about the causes and treatments of illnesses, create distrust of medical professionals, and distract from or undermine medical consensus and public health messaging.

Good for sweating out a deathly hangover.

Possible benefits with dilation of blood vessels, some folk I know swear by saunas. No avoiding death though 😎

The only people who use saunas three times a week are Finns, Swedes and Norwegians. Social Democracy significantly extends your lifespan and improves your health. You're welcome...

Your tweet needs fact-checking... The risk of death is 100% - everybody dies eventually. It is impossible to reduce the 'risk of death', unless you specify that as the 'risk of death' within a certain timeframe.

I mean literally death is literally unavoidable. Do they think standing next to a kettle while it boils makes them immortal?

I mean it probably does, by virtue of being able to afford using a sauna 3x a week.
