Alvin ISD voters will decide between incumbent trustee Earl Humbird and Craig Kettler in...

Incumbent Earl Humbird and Craig KettlerHumbird said Alvin ISD's enrollment is increasing by nearly a 1,000 students a year.

"I am deeply committed to continuing to find ways to partner with parents to ensure our students have an excellent experience that we can take pride in as a community," he said. "I am also proud of the work we’ve done to expand career and technical education opportunities for our students," he said."This was a long-standing goal of mine, and one of my proudest moments was the day Alvin ISD opened the JB Hensler College and Career Academy."

He said his wife has been an educator for over 20 years and that both of his kids are enrolled in Alvin ISD schools. He decided to run for the trustee position to prepare students to be ready for college and a global market. "One of the biggest disservices that we do to teachers is we don't really support their mental health," he said."If you look at the number of teachers that are constantly leaving the industry because they're worn out or stressed, we really need to focus on supporting our teachers.""These are things we should be helping them secure — to make sure they have those supplies on campus so they can just come in and do their job," he said.
