The Department of Health and the Department of Social Welfare and Development have joined together to spearhead a multisectoral nutrition program to combat malnutrition and stunting in the country. | JMangaluzINQ

According to the DSWD, the Philippine Multisectoral Nutrition Project intends to unify nutrition interventions to eliminate growth deficiency in designated areas countrywide.The social welfare and health departments and local government units will jointly implement the program.

“We believe that the [PMNP] and the community-driven development approach hold great promise for improving the nutritional status of women and children in the Philippines. We are confident that we can achieve sustainable and long-lasting improvements in the well-being of Filipino families by empowering them to take ownership of their nutrition challenges,” said Social Welfare Secretary Rex Gatchalian during the program’s launch.
