We need to stop ignoring patients b/c of their age. Had an ulcer at 21. I knew I had it. Was told I couldn't have an ulcer b/c I was too young & female so I must pregnant. I knew I wasn't. I had to fight to get an xray. Dr later apologized as it was a significant ulcer.
I have a 45 year old friend had symptoms and she had to go to 4 doctors over 5 years with symptoms before the 4th finally sent her for a colonoscopy. They found rectal cancer that required chemo, radiation and now surgery all of which could have been avoided with early detection
