Putting patients’ health and lives at risk and terrifying people working on the front lines of our crisis-ridden public healthcare system is not only utterly disgusting, it is also a betrayal of everything that the union movement has stood for in South ...

The trade union movement brought us the weekend, the eight-hour working day, the lunch break and minimum wages, along with an end to child labour and a politics rooted in solidarity.

Domestic workers, Uber and delivery drivers, informal workers and many others urgently need to be unionised at scale. On the Waterfront Elements in the middle-class left have long sought to capture the union movement for their own ends and amenable leaders have been celebrated – those that remain independent are vilified.

This is not just a question of a few rogue elements in the union. Its president, Michael Shingange, has openly justified conduct that puts the lives of patients at risk.Any decent union anywhere in the world is not only concerned with wages. Then to top their thuggish behaviour, Nehawu, in the time-honored practice of ANCAlignedUnions, simply shifted the blame for their violent actions to the Govt, for not caving in to their demands! All while singing StruggleSongs - the supreme irony!!

Shocking in deed!

Just a question ... do nurses also sign the oath that doctors do?

The glorious history is a mirage. The unions have supported the government sleep walking into this disaster. Don't forget the Tripartite Alliance. Cyril Ramaphosa came from the trade union movement. Wakeup, it's a psyop to scare the public.

Agree! When people who have to care turn to despicable hooliganism, the demise of a country is close! Get rid of these traitors of their oath!!
