People who follow a 'keto-like' diet of high fat and low carbohydrate foods may be at greater risk for cardiovascular events like heart attacks and strokes, according to a new study.

Iatan said people who are considering going on a low-carbohydrate, high-fat diet should be aware that the way of eating could increase their LDL cholesterol.

The study's limitations included that people self-reported that they followed a low-carbohydrate diet, which can be inaccurate. In addition, the study only followed people for a limited amount of time.

Yep best diet is to balance a bit of everything . Meaning no diet. And be active

That actually isn't surprising! High cholesterol? Carbs? It should have been a 'no brainer' but Americans are not known for their intelligence.

Yeah…no sh$t

In todays world the amount of pushback or campaigning against something that the mainstream media does is equivalent to the importance of doing the thing they advise against.

I tried it, it's like Pelo diet but nastier effect on my health. Just stick to balanced diet.

We find this very confusing. There is no such thing a 'keto-like' diet. Either a diet puts you into ketosis or it doesn't. Here's on our take on the inaccurate reporting of this study. Please let us know what you think.

nobody believes you anymore

Yeah, let's give them cheerios for breakfast. So much healthier 🙄

You need a 'new study' for this? This is the same shit as Atkins - both advantages and health risks. lol. I will still never get over all these fancy diets, when what the body needs is balance. Moderation.

bairay92 So many of these fad diets are really only good for specific people but as soon as a diet trends everyone throws that out the window and hops on the bandwagon.

Ok, only McDonald’s French fries for me now.

This can't possibly be news. it's common sense!

You want to be healthy? Eat salmon, chicken, yogurt, vegetables, certain nuts, fruit, and drink a lot of water. Cut out processed food and avoid ice cream, candy, and soft drinks. Walk 3 miles a week and minimize your alcohol intake. Boom - just added 15 years to your life. YW.

'Keto-like' isn't a thing. This isn't disproving the benefits of Keto. This is proving people who eat fats unregulated and don't manage their macros are unhealthy. Nobody claimed otherwise.

dbchirpy OR they could die of obesity. Better to eat Keto, lose weight, maybe not have diabetes, and a host of other diseases, than be 300 lbs.

Fruits ,yougurt , high protein vegetables, and coffee or tea is the way to go. Not that hard I think but very expensive living in the United States which is ridiculous

When will the same thing be said about eating fast food, junk food, sugar, etc.?

Stop eating problem solved

When I followed low carb, I definitely lost weight & felt better & better. I gave it up & started eating all the wrong things & now I’m fatter & feel so sluggish. Pathetic. Can’t they just make a pill that helps me lose weight? I have breathing issues. Can’t exercise a lot.

Don't be healthy! Make people money by being fat and sick!

New research run by the carb industry?
