New union agreement increases wage for B.C.’s health care workers

Community health workers in B.C. are celebrating Wednesday after ratifying a new collective agreement.

The agreement includes an average of 14 to 16 per cent wage increase for all members over three years, as well as improved premiums for weekends and evenings and guaranteed-hours positions. “Our members and other community health workers are finally getting the respect and recognition they need and deserve. These significant wage increases are overdue and were desperately needed for these folks who work every day to keep our health care system afloat,” Johnson said.
