If the insurance company can pull medical information about a person in order to not pay a claim, they have that same ability to pull your medical information before you travel and be fully aware of what they are covering and then provide insurance based on that information
I would sue the insurer have my lawyer present evidence and experts as to the risk changes that the 10mg dose increase had on the outcomes, and related arguments. Then let a court decide. If the insurance company fears a decision not in their favor (and precedent) they'll settle.

I distrust all travel insurance companies. However, all of them state that any change of health or medication must be disclosed or coverage will be denied. You do not have a leg to stand on in my opinion. You don’t forget something that important.
The goal of the insurance provider is to not pay out the claim. They’ll find any excuse as this family found out.
Private insurance will look for anything to get out of paying.

It's a terribly small and ridiculous reason to decline the claim however, itnis the company's right to do so since he didn't follow the policy by disclosing the medication increase. Insurance looks for little things like that so they should've made sure to stay on top of that.

Insurance gives you a peace of mind what a baloney. That's what's for-profit insurance does - don't payout or pay as little as possible and DRAG their feet while at it. They are here for the money never for your well being.

Insurance companies denying claims on travel health insurance is their go to modus operandi. They will put you through hell getting medical records, proof of travel dates, etc, etc. They will deny claims on any minor technicality and claims take on average over a year to settle.

You take cholesterol medication because you have an increased risk for heart attack or stroke. I know you want to blame insurer but if it needs to be increased it's because the risk has increased & stability needs to be confirmed. The charges can be negotiated.

Usually on insurance forms they ask if medications have changed over the past several months. An increase in medications is indicative of escalating problems that may not yet be under control. This is standard on every type of out of country indurance.
