This is why I see many clients speak to reporters. They know that if their situation makes the government look bad, then their homelessness will likely end sooner than if they hadn’t. The boss would say, oh, let’s give this old man with a cane the new apartment that’s just come available. Which makes sense to a casual observer because it’s someone we would usually feel sympathy for, and who would deny him a place to live?

Surveys, known as the Point-in-Time Count, were conducted across Halifax Regional Municipality on Wednesday, April 7, 2022, as part of a nationally co-ordinated data collection initiative held in communities across Canada.Race is only one factor that should come into play when we are figuring out who to prioritize for housing.
