In a news release, federal Health Minister Jean-Yves Duclos boasted the agreement in principle will improve conditions for health workers and patients. “It will modernize our health-care system, improve access to family health services and mental health services, reduce surgical backlogs and support health workers,” Duclos said. “Better quality of care means helping Albertans and Canadians live longer, healthier lives.”

Speaking previously to media, Smith called the funding “significant” and said she intended to direct it towards health initiatives already underway, including decreasing wait times at emergency rooms, cutting ambulance response time and recruiting more frontline workers.

Rockyview Hospital searching for volunteersAlberta Health Services is looking for more volunteers at Calgary's Rockyview Hospital. MAYBE because volunteers are never treated as if they work there countless hours, for free? No access to internal job postings despite having IT (AHS) email, access to restricted areas. I was an ER volunteer for 3 years yet treated like an outsider. It's frustrating that volunteers are trusted to be an important piece, have an IT account and given all access AS LONG AS THEY WORK FOR FREE. God forbid they become employees and get paid one day. They need to feel valued, let them access internal job postings AHS_YYCZone What a sad state that our healthcare system needs to rely on unpaid workers and run lotteries to adequately fund hospitals when the province has a $15 billion surplus and is planning on grifting $20 billion to Cdn oil oligarchs ableg abpoli AHS NeverVoteConservative
