Toronto will soon be getting more supervised consumption sites for people who use unregulated drugs.

Set to open in the next one to two years, the expanded harm reduction service is the result of a new partnership between Toronto Public Health , Unity Health Toronto, and University Health Network. The exact locations for the new sites are still being determined.

“Supervised consumption services are critical medical services that have proven to save lives, especially as opioid overdoses have reached record levels in our city,” Coun. Chris Moise, chair of the Board of Health, said in a Feb. 24 release. This marks the second consecutive year that Toronto saw more than 500 overdose deaths. In 2020, 539 people in Toronto died of a drug overdose.

In a release, the City of Toronto said that a number of factors, including stigma and discrimination, are preventing people from accessing services, which is impacting the health of those who use drugs.

Give out free Fentinal...

This is how spend our tax $$$.

So basically they are going to charge alcoholic’s more so they can afford to give junkies free heroin, cocaine, crystal meth and other opioids.

Can anyone show me where this has reduced the problem? I know it saves alot of overdoses, but if the same people keep using and this leads to more using...aww forget it...they will see for themselves

Why are we wasting tax payers money enabling addicts?

Cool supervised Suicide is the best

NOOOPE! Thats the conservative nazis being cowards. Illegal is illegal. Stand outside and arrest anyone coming out for being under the influence of narcotics. Dont let the nazis kill more people in toronto!!

Dont agree. Spend money on facilities getting people clean…all this does is enable the user to continue using their poisons. Tough choices have to be made…even to the point of forced rehab under the MHA.

Either you treat these people, or they become everyone's problem.

This country is turning into a cesspool at the hands of the liberal_party

So we are letting the addicts become even more addicted? This is where my tax dollars are going to?

Why not partner with actual help and get these people into therapy. You know, so they can overcome addictions and live a better life?

buy them the drugs too

Let them off themselves. Toronto will clean up real fast

New name for 'injection sites'. Issues are: these sites attract drug dealers (their customer base come to these sites) addicts need money so crime will rise (car, home entries, robbery, thefts for cash) vagrancy will rise... AND these people will still be addicts good job

Diabetics buy their own syringes. If you're a drug user you get it for free. Must be nice.

Waste of money

Guess Toronto hospitals don't have enough customers to take care of, so now they're going tp help the junkies get high.

Let's all just follow BC ..open it to EVERYONE ..lets have a country of walking dead

To fucking funny..is this Ontarios mantra? Can't beat em..join em? Drug addicts are useless to society..

Liberal utopia type things

When are they opening the supervised alcohol sites? Oh wait…

These places enable them to continue their habit. There should be $ invested in recovery. Sadly there isn't

Drug use is legal and encouraged in Toronto. 🤔

Keep these sites out of downtown Toronto area! We have enough to worry about and downtown is extremely crowded. They simply leave these patients out on the streets for the police and the public to look after them. TOPublicHealth cityoftoronto

Ridiculous

OMG. Enabling druggies. ARE YOU SERIOUS

Another waste of taxpayer money. Going to be supplying the drugs too?

Now I understand why we have so many drug addled people walking our streets. They are being encouraged to maintain their drug addiction.

The rights of the few outweigh the rights of the many. Who will compensate victims of crime committed by those trying to feed their addictions?

What a disgusting waste of taxpayer dollars. Who cares about degenerate junkies.

What could go wrong

Can we just invest into investigate the root of drug addiction? How some parents, family members, the society and politicians have failed these people?

This is an absolute travesty. The degenerate state of Toronto never ceases to amaze me…and they wonder why crime is up

Drugs won the war on drugs lol
