Pennsylvania state police are investigating the theft of thousands of dollars worth of lung cancer medication from a 62-year-old Carlisle woman.

$15,000 worth of Tagrisso pills were reported stolen on the way to Bonnybrook Road in South Middleton Township on Wednesday, according to state police. Tagrisso is a pill taken by cancer patients that prevents tumor growth, as well as overcomes natural resistances that some people have to other medication.

Tagrisso is usually taken at 80 milligrams daily, and is priced at $5.63 per milligram—meaning it costs around $450 a day to take, according to an analysis by
