Sylvia Jones announced last month that the legislation was coming, and since then opposition parties and some health-care advocates have been critical about the role of for-profit clinics.

Jones says patients at the clinics, including new facilities that will perform hip and knee surgeries, will not have to pay out of pocket, rather the procedures will continue to be publicly funded.

Jones says the legislation will enable the province to designate "expert organizations" to inspect the clinics, but the province hasn't yet decided who those organizations will be. The government says it is "exploring several options" for that, including the current regulatory colleges. Clinics would be required to provide details of infection prevention and control policies, as well as a staffing plan "to protect the stability of doctors, nurses and other health-care workers at public hospitals."

I keep rolling back to her (lack of) qualifications. A diploma in radio broadcasting. I wouldn't trust her to pump gas into cars.

But the fordnation govt is looking only to make his donors money at the tax payers expense and they are not the least bit concerned about regular Ontarians

What say the other Conservative MPPs? Why aren't they being interviewed for 'their' opinion?

A direct way of feeding tax money into wealthy investor's pockets.

Good I prefer it . I pay for a service and my privacy is kept not like the public shit show liberal agenda

They way we've been doing Healthcare doesn't work. Time for something different

How will people know which is for profit and which is not for profit before attending the practice. I would prefer to keep things the way they have been and have the gov cover the bills. I'm disabled and wouldn't be able to afford to pay a psychiatrist or doctor.

Current regulatory colleges are doing nothing about the private for profit diagnostic clinics that are using outdated equipment producing substandard images and over exposing patients so they can bill OHIP the max for the exam. Basically, you're just asking them to ignore more.

There's more than 'some' health-care advocates being critical of the plan. If you look closely, the majority are critical.

while the Conservative government is trying to tackle health care, I hope they don't forget home care getting people out of hospitals and back home. Sadly home care is a scam where agencies are getting paid to assist in home care and doing nothing. I speak from personal exp.

Is this how you hope to be remembered ? SylviaJonesMPP and fordnation You ignore the health care professionals and their concerns! SHAME!!

so...she told people that they are going to have to pay...there you have it...

They are disgusting when comes to the value of life, maybe we can wipe off their DNA since that’s what they actually believe in anyways behind this kind of legislations

Is the waitlist for surgeries affected at private clinics, can you pay more than the OHIP rates to get your surgery quicker? Will the province oversee the waitlist to see if this is a way for the rich to bypass waits? If yes to any of these questions then it shouldn't be allowed

Heartless, greedy sycophant to Ford( the boss), wish she would have stayed in radio at least you could change the station.

Will the government be paying the same amount to a clinic as to a hospital?

What to expect when the Ontario legislature resumes sitting Tuesday | CBC NewsQuestions about Premier Doug Ford's relationship with developers and the expansion of private health-care delivery will dominate the return of the Ontario legislature Tuesday when it's set to resume after its winter break. Ask the questions. Why did so many developers pay $1000 each to attend Ford’s daughter’s party? News flash. All the politicians are corrupt. Especially your favorite one. The cbc is a national disgrace, almost as much as our leaders.
