Four-day work weeks are good for your health, a large study finds

improves employees’ health in numerous ways, from reducing anxiety and stress to enabling better sleep and more time for exercise, according to a large new report.

Companies in the study, most of which were based in the U.K., were free to set their schedules however they wanted, as long as they “meaningfully” reduced working hours without docking pay. More than half of the companies that completed the researchers’ surveys gave all employees either Monday or Friday off, while others tried solutions like staggered schedules or shorter days throughout the week.

. More than 40% of employees said their mental health had improved, with significant portions of the group reporting decreases in anxiety and negative emotions.Almost 40% of employees also said their physical health got better during the pilot period, perhaps because they had more time for hobbies, exercise, cooking, family time, and other leisure activities. Nearly half of workers also said they weren’t as tired as they were before the experiment, and 40% said it was easier to get to sleep.

If any of my employees come asking for a four day work week I'll be moving to a 6 day work week until further notice.

Your investors don’t pay you enough to work five days. 😆LOL.

I disagree with that they are good. They are good for those who sell food and gas but not the average person makes us more lazy. Jobs won’t give benefits and cut hours

CT never sleeps 😄

𝙼𝚢 𝚋𝚘𝚜𝚜 𝚒𝚗 𝚊𝚏𝚛𝚒𝚌𝚊 𝚊𝚏𝚝𝚎𝚛 𝚛𝚎𝚊𝚍𝚒𝚗𝚐 𝚝𝚑𝚒𝚜🤣🤣🤣😅😅

So 20% reduction in pay?

3 days and 10 hours a day would be great for most people.

Also to the financial health 🤔🙆‍♂️

I spend most of my time relaxing and I believe in being efficient

Why don’t work on the weekend and have mon to Fri off. Ha Ha

Have Friday off and come back on Monday to 2 days worth of work.

I’ve always said a 4 day work week will improve everything. EVERYTHING !

Seriously why do we even need any study to back it up? I can say for a certainty that a three-day work week would be better than a four-day work week for the same metrics … A two… is better than a three…and so on and so forth… 😂

Capitalist don’t care about this. They will never accept a four day work week.

Working four days increases productivity and keeps employees healthy. It also means saving dual-income families thousands of dollars a year in childcare and commuting costs. It can also improve the happiness index of the entire society and help reduce urban traffic congestion.

Meanwhile, in the real world.......... maintenance FacilitiesMgmt 🙄😊

Nice research but such researches varies with working enviornment financial status economical condition living standards dependency liabilities however,in developing world 08hrs daily deliverance keeps a person worker healthy and fit moreover, anxiety r stress has many causes.

Sign me up!!

K

Then four days becomes 3 days

Yes, this work system has many benefits

水土日を休みにせい👌🧔😙

If the Democrats actually offered this I would never vote republican again

Shocker

One-day work-weeks would be awesome.

Why 4 days? Wouldn't it bei better to work Just one day? More spare time, more time for excercise, more time for healtier kitchen, less convenient food, and better health as the result.

I work it right now and the 4 days off is great , you are working less than half the year but my working days are longer , 11/12 hour shifts.

👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

You work 4 days of 10 hrs instead of 5 days of 8 hrs. You work the same time but with kess recuperating on work days

duh

Who cares about employees health

If you really want to help the employees, come up with a study that concludes a 4 day work week increases profit. Employers don’t care about employee health.

I had four days off but due to having to use my PTO and let me tell you, having four days off made my body and mind felt decompressed.

It may be better for our health but not for our wallets. The study itself literally shows that people still continued to work more than the recommended 32 hours. Many can barely survive on 40 hours of shitty pay. Now go tell them they are losing 1/5 of that “for their health”.

I want a 4 day work week so bad! I’ve asked about it and (I work for a large bank) I was told No but I pushed back and wanted to know why. I don’t have customer interaction, I work with data. The answer is a till a no.

Indeed. I worked a four day week my last 15 years before retirement.

LIFE ... 99.99% of all life's biomass is not human 97.50% of all animal life is not human but it's all connected & traceable back billions of years and between childhood & old-age, we're lucky to get 40 good healthy years ... what is the meaning of our lives?

'Being lazy feels good.' Sure does, but getting shit done feels good, too and comes with rewards. Sometimes you want to be like a child. Blow off the world, stay in bed, but then you grow up and you have to get shit done whether it's fun or hard or tiring or not.

8 days a week isn’t recommended?

I have a 4 day work week currently and I love it. Those 3 days off are 😇 …physically, mentally and spiritually.

👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

What abou three? It’s Event better!

It just opens them up to force work on Friday!!!

LOLOLOLOLOL

Nice for those who don't work in farms, hospitals, etc. - e.g. The non-stop wealth generating Parasite Sector!

What does it do for the company?

I loved working 4 tens.

I’ve switched to an optional 4 day week and it’s life changing .

Despite the widespread protests and severe repression of women in Iran, your news media does not talk about the pressure of the mullahs' regime and violence against women and taking away their basic rights. WomanLifeFreedom

Hopefully my employer adapts it.

🙏🏽🇺🇸 I was living in California when I first heard about the 4 day work week... that was 1999-2001

Now report on the benefits of full time remote work. You're not selling us on 4 days in person work.

people worked 8 days during one week in China

I'd rather have 5 shorter work days than 4 longer ones

I worked four 8 hour night shifts a week in an ICU 30 years ago which was full time there. It was great. The 3 nights off gave us the ability to have 2 nights off together every few nights since we rotated weekends. Shift wasn’t too long, we could have dinner with our families.

Averne di settimane lavorative pure di 6/7 giorni = migliore vita per i senza lavoro = meno ansia e angoscia (da mia personale ricerca 😅 adyglio)

I'm a capitalist, and I focuss on make more. You?

My work trying to cheat and say they're implementing a 4-day work week. But it's an 11 hour shift. SMH.

I know. I apply already a 4 days work week🙏🙌

With Covid I began a 4 day work week. This should be a requirement for everyone. Two days off is not enough.

France started a 4 day work week...now they have beheadings in the streets.

for every day we work, we should get a day off. Real balance

If it’s four, 10 hour days then all good. If it’s four, 8 hour days then don’t expect to get paid the same as you do now.

Urgent relief is here to save a Palestinian girl !!

Ohhhhhh.. NOoOoO 😓

Duh.

Come to life, 4-Day Work week!!

No shit Sherlock

How about zero days? it has to be about them even numbers

Duh

If employees are a company's most important asset, why aren't more adopting this change? This should've been considered long ago.

I went to a 4 day work week two years ago. It's great. I'll never go back to 5 days.

Well, duh.

I would enjoy spending more time at home then work.

Also sunshine makes you happy and steaks taste good
