The main obstacle to widespread adoption of electric buses, Ecology Ottawa says, is they have a higher up-front cost than diesel buses.

Randall said making the switch from diesel to electric would save "something in the region of" 17 to 20 tonnes of carbon per bus per year.

The province started a pilot program with 13 electric school buses in 2017 but when the Progressive Conservative government took power the next year it scrapped the program."It essentially meant that there was no data collected by the province from those buses that are still running now," she said. She said a federal program that provides 50 per cent of the cost of a bus and the charging infrastructure could be leveraged, but it will require provincial support.

CBC agreeing with Kamala. Can't be good for Canadians.

Leave the EV to warmer climates and big urban areas the rest of the country can go with out EV

I wonder how those electric fire trucks are doing?

It's a scam.

Many rural bus drivers park their busses at home. Who will pay for the electricity and the installation of chargers?

Going all EV is just exporting the carbon footprint and what about creating a worse future battery disposal problems never mind the lacking electric grid & charging process & problems year round country wide.

20 times higher Fossil fuel will never be phased out..Wake Up !

Biden terrorist blew up Nordstream pipe lines. Europe's real enemy. If there is a cold snap, like in 2014, Europeans are going to freeze to death. CBC isn't saying a word, in distraction they have you chasing imaginary 'Objects' shot out of the sky by Jets without a cameras.

Is this 'Evironmental' group aware of how the minerals required for electric vehicles extracted? Are they aware of how electricity is produced?

This makes no sense to say this as total costs are supposed to be calculated in the Total Life Cycle of Fleet Management of the transports.

that is a serious obstacle. Perhaps we should let taxpayers choose instead of environmentalists

🤣🤣🤣 and hundreds of thousands of children will be left stranded on a cold bus when it is -25

The fact that EVs don’t work in Nordic countries well below zero may also have something to do with it…maybe?

😆

The main obstacle is, they suck balls.

We have the money. If they can subsidize big oil. We have the money to switch.

Seriously? I would think the main obstacle would be, they don't work! EV anything is a money sink failure before it starts. cdnpoli ClimateScam

Or they simply don't work in cold weather

Seriously? has anyone checked with Ford lately regarding the e F 150? elonmusk spent a decade plus working on his batteries, everyone is far behind and it's NOT easily. But JoeBiden bother started a company after he won to make these. With zero experience. Smarten UP

Uuuhhh don't know how to explain it, but it is a real thing, requires real consideration there kids

No s...t Shurlock!!! Still on your climate alarmism are we while Ohio is filled with toxic waste. Cover some real news. (no worries you will be dufunded soon).

Imagine the insane cost of installing charging ports for thousands and thousands of buses. Not to mention the severe pollution manufacturing the buses, materials needed for charging stations, cables, wires, metal parts, mining etc. So bad for the earth.

Electric buses are not viable options, I think kids safety is more important than politicians virtue signaling that they care about the climate.

Also won't start in the winter. Still requires fossil fuels to charge the bus. Very large dirty lithium batteries that will have to be replaced, etc....

They never heard of life-cycle costing?

Yes, it's easier to let future generations deal with climate change than properly tax the ultra-rich to pay for that. Let them pillage it all.

Imagine on a -20 school day and the bus runs out of battery. That will go over well.

And our cold weather in the rural countryside

Geee who could have predicted that🤔

People know trees use carbon right ?

So electric school bus with 30 or more kids on board in outlying area quits it’s 30 below zero , how do you heat the bus and keep the kids from hypothermia until help arrives ?

Diesel fuel is quite $$ now.

It will end when the first one bursts into flames. Doubt parents will be too thrilled with that prospect.

Maybe also the fact that 100.000+slaves (mostly forced child labour) working in so called “green industries”. Not to mention an environmental destruction of the planet caused by mining at the level that has never happened before in human history.

They catch fire and blow up and you need alot slave labor to dig up the toxic minerals
