Canada’s vanishing health care crisis

last week. It was just a few days ago that the provinces were sounding dire warnings about the imminent collapse of medicare unless Ottawa handed them tens of billions of dollars to inject into the system. The federal Liberals, instead, gave them only billions of dollars.that free money. But they are not yet rushing to spend their own, if fiscal updates that landed this week are anything to go by. Or, if you prefer another measure, the provinces’ recent spending history.

Those spending projections include the amounts that Ottawa gives the provinces under the Canada Health Transfer; provincial increases are even less impressive than they first seem. But the point is that the pace of health care spending is set to slow significantly this year, even as the premiers ramped up the pressure on Ottawa to splash federal cash their way.

It’s unlikely that Ontario and New Brunswick are outliers. So far, the provinces have been much more focused on prying cash from Ottawa than spending their own money.

It's hardly vanishing. The bcndp are stubbornly refusing to repeal the draconian Bill 36 which would jail doctors for 'false or misleading information' driving desperately needed healthcare providers out of the province. RejectBill36 bcpoli

The credibility of the Globe and Mail appears to be vanishing. The system is not fixed yet.

I stopped reading at 'free money'. Seriously considering canceling my subscription, but I'll hold on just so I can observe the propaganda. I actually thought you were being facetious using the term 'vanishing'. Maybe you were, but alas I didn't get past 'free money'

What a giant surprise

Ya ok. Who was interviewed? CEOs? Give me a break. Nice dodge.

How about a follow the money strategy? Wages are flat or lagging inflation. Corporate profits in commodity sectors are through the roof. Adjust the tax rate accordingly. Let’s drop the dogma and get pragmatic!

The crisis is vanishing....good news, then

Yes, one of the great things about lying to people about safe and effective, is that they are now becoming highly unwilling to get medical care, fearing that doctors will deliberately attempt to murder them. Great cost saving strategy.

Globe editorial: Canada isn’t broken, but Canadians are at the breaking pointGovernments are moving too slowly to relieve the stresses from the pandemic, inflation, health care, housing and more The single thing most Canadians rally against is this new, ridiculous ‘woke’ ideology. What I want to know is who exactly are these people pushing this ideology…cause I literally know no one, not a single person, who would be considered ‘woke’. Having Common Sense nowadays will get you labeled as a 'Lefty'. Vote 'Lefty' Isabella Gamk for Toronto Mayor 2023! 'It's The Right Thing To Do!'
