Members of the Holy Heart Chamber Choir are resuming their Love Notes fundraiser on Valentine's Day for the first time since 2020. - ContributedST. JOHN'S, N.L. — Former health minister John Haggie famously warned against the perils of seeking love in a time of coronavirus during the early weeks of the COVID-19 pandemic.
"If you use Tinder or Grindr and you swipe right, you might get more than you bargained for," he quipped in April 2020.This Valentine’s Day, some groups are getting up close and personal again, at least to help celebrate the spirit of romance. The last time these high school choristers did their singing Valentine's fundraiser, Love Notes, the banks of Snowmageddon still dominated the St. John’s landscape.
Next Tuesday, the young singers will split into several groups and once again fan out across the city to serenade unsuspecting love interests. “We go to retirement homes, hospitals, businesses, workplaces, schools, all that kind of deal,” says choir member Ben Candow. “Anywhere in the St. John’s metro area.”But they were already almost completely booked when The Telegram caught up with Candow this week.
