KZN Health MEC, Nomagugu Simelane, said that Thulasizwe Hospital in Ulundi, which currently strictly treats cases of multidrug-resistant TB, should be turned into a primary healthcare facility to allow it to serve more people in the area.

DURBAN - The KwaZulu-Natal Health Department says it wants to repurpose the Thulasizwe Hospital in Ulundi into a primary healthcare facility.

The department attributes this to low TB infection numbers in the area, as well as "improved and de-centralised treatment approaches" that don't require patients to be admitted.
