A 45-year-old woman says she was devastated after learning that three previous checks had been misread.

"You put your trust in the medical profession, the people that are supposed to analyse these smear tests. You put your trust in them and somebody didn't do their job properly."

Secondly, the 2018 inquiry in the Republic of Ireland into the cervical smear crisis also prompted local trusts to examine more closely what patients were told. By doing both, Susan has made women aware of the 2019 cervical audit and their right to be informed of personal data including misread smear results.

Following his review of the cervical crisis in the Republic, Dr Gabriel Scally said "open disclosure should be mandatory". For instance, the Western Trust said it would like to "inform women between 2008 - 16 of the audit review but they have limited specialist staff" - whereas some women in the Southern Trust have been informed of audit review.

Dr Brid Farrell, from the PHA, said every year in Northern Ireland about 80 women are diagnosed with cervical cancer, with approximately 110,000 women getting the test.

More Exploitative medicine. Shouldn’t it be called ‘schmear’? 🤤

That's because what the NHS use for smear test is so outdated. To me it looks like something they might have used 30-40 years ago. They need to start using more modern equipments to ensure test results come out accurate.

This is why we need to train doctors from 🇬🇧 and stop importing them from abroad.

There's no other name given among men that we might be saved only the name Jesus Christ, run to him now cus outside him is crisis, repent therefore and forsake ur iniquities

Please leave out the loud music when you read the headlines at the top of the hour. No need for it. I can hardly hear what's being said 🙄
