I work for a psychiatric hosp and I'm convinced that there is a connection between psychosis and synthetic marijuana especially in adolescents. Not so sure about natural cannabis. Like anything, it should be used in moderation or there could be adverse effects, like with alcohol.

The basis of their book is built upon what actual evidence? If a person has mental illnesses, how does one attribute the use of marijuana to a problem that's embedded in some individuals, organically?
Some people are sensitive to it but they're not specifically mentally ill. Some can have extremely bad side effects paranoia etc. So they don't use it... At least the people I know.
You know what else harms mental health? Stress. You know what helps some people lower their stress levels? Pot. If the millions of alcohol related deaths have not been the end of the alcohol industry yet, I think pot sellers will be fine.

It’s unfortunate to see that on one hand politicians keep talking about opioid crisis and then get onboard with legalization of marijuana. Should they spend time and efforts to fix other issues. But may first they need to create new one so that someone can fix it in future!

Dude is a hack. Alcohol can lead to mental illness, kidney failure, liver failure, death. Nitnti mention it can exacerbate underlying mental issues. It also had a tendency to make people angry and causes them to do terrible and foolish things. Leave pot alone.
Yet those issues aren't being displayed by the millions of people who've been consuming for decades. Maybe we should continue to worry more about the effects of alcohol on everything in life.
