We typically don't use cough & cold medications other than Tylenol or Advil for headaches and fevers. Raw honey works better than cough syrups at controlling coughs. Real lemon & honey tea also does wonders.
Yes, my son was very sick most of Christmas, had a lot of trouble finding cough medicine.
One of my family members had a bad case of the flu over Christmas but had no trouble finding medications. It did nothing for her and she ended up seeing a doctor and was given a prescription for antibiotics which had her feeling better soon after.
I don't use over-the-counter cough/cold medications because it does nothing to help me. If I can't get a prescription I simply take Aleve. In the past Contac-C was good, but they changed it and it's useless now. Same with Buckley's Mixture now. Tastes bad and does nothing.
