FrWikinson Some are obesse because of medical reasons but people who are perfectly healthy and are obesse are responsible for their problem and aren't entitled to any special care.
What if the obesity is the result of a mental health concern, such as low self-esteem or depression? Would it be a symptom?
It's a condition, not a disease - although some people use these interchangeably.
Classifying it as a disease is a nonsense. Now individuals have no obligation to do something about it other than to sit back and wait for the NHS / state to sort it out - and then slap on a big fat claim when the state doesn't.

I agree with you. I am overweight, and I am not sure about all of the reasons I am overweight: genetics. occupation and age etc. However, I know that I bear personal responsibility because I do not exercise enough, and I eat unhealthy foods.
