Emergency rooms across the province are seeing unprecedented demand amid a nursing shortage. - SaltwireNova Scotia Health is looking down a gaping hole when it comes to nursing in emergency departments.

Other departments are plagued by a lack of registered nurses, including Colchester Hospital at 54.3 per cent and Yarmouth Regional at 51 per cent. “And part of that challenge is making sure we have the number of providers that we need to deliver care. And of those providers that we have, we need to make sure that they’re doing the things according to what they can do.”
