The National Council of Societies for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals is determined to probe the shooting and killing of tiger escapee Sheba after she was euthanised on Wednesday morning.
The animal protection society said in a statement that neither the local SPCA nor the NSPCA was contacted when Sheba was sighted and shot. NSPCA spokesperson Keshvi Nair said: Nair said if the SPCA was there, their role would have been to ensure the welfare of the animal was taken into consideration during the darting process or when she was shot.
