Premier Doug Ford says his government will introduce legislation in February that would immediately allow doctors, nurses and other accredited health-care professionals from the rest of Canada to work in Ontario, helping to ease a staffing crunch.

“They can get to work as soon as they get here,” Ford said Thursday during an announcement at Windsor Regional Hospital.Health-care workers coming to Ontario would not have to first register with regulatory colleges for their professions such as the College of Physicians and Surgeons or the College of Nurses, which handle disciplinary matters in the event questionable or improper care is provided.

The College of Physicians of Ontario said it has always supported national licensure for doctors, and its officials “look forward to working with government to better understand the details underlying the ‘as of right’ rules.” The legislation would clear the way for nurses, respiratory therapists, paramedics and other health-care professionals “to work outside their regular responsibilities or settings as long as they have the knowledge, skill and judgment to do so,” the government said in a statement.

Doug Ford's like a drain, he wants all the water to down his pipes, !

Poaching healthcare workers from other provinces is NOT a solution.

And why would they want to come here?

Hope you have a big savings account , you wouldn’t be able to by a house in most large cities in Ontario. Grass is not always greener on the other side

So we can poach docs and nurses from other starved systems to come to Ontario, where our COL is through the roof? Great call doug

So the plan to extract profit from Ontario health care is not only going to undermine staffing and service levels at Ontario hospitals, but hospitals across the country. How does the rest of the federation feel about this? capoli carenotprofit

This is all going to add up to far better HC system than our radical left friends would like to admit. And you know what? Even when they can see a doctor and realize the HC is superior. They still won’t admit it. Just like they don’t admit vaccines don’t work. Such is life.

Who will be responsible for ensuring these out of province professionals are following the rules?

If anything, doctors and nurses should be required to undergo a psych exam and polygraph.

What about foriegn trained doctors/nurses?

While still paying them less than the private sector. There’s plenty of career opportunities out there that don’t include the stresses and physical tolls that go with being a nurse (or any healthcare worker), while paying considerably more.

2+2 still doesn’t make 5 Doug! The shortage is National 🤷‍♀️

Nice Dougie and where will they live exactly. Oh yea you have friends in high places to put them up. Will u pay them more than the current nurses and doctors.

And what is not to like about that? Well the haters will tell us soon enough.

It will just draw medical personnel from other chronically under staffed areas of Canada, like Nova Scotia where I live. Where 116,000 people do not have a family doctor, in a province with just a million people, think about that!!

yelich_ivana Repeal Bill124. Much quicker and better for the future of healthcare. That is unless you want to continue the SnobelenFlex

And who's gonna come here and work for shit wages because of the crisis he intentionally created? Gravy train on full steam with this gang.

Gotta staff those private clinics.

Please. Take them.

That's your answer. To screw over other provinces. Piece of crap

Yeah it’s great that ThugFord is going to pilfer our neighbours for medical resources. That won’t cause wages to increase as each province needs more incentives to keep their workers. Great way to undermine medicare beyond our borders…

Bribery with profitable private clinic jackpots works every time. They can afford the new multi-million dollar homes with a beautiful Greenbelt view.

A staffing crunch he created…

Good The restrictions are stupid

Wow where I know someone in Ontario who is trying to get her nursing license back and they won't give it back. Doug Ford is lying.

But how can they afford to live here?

Include other countries, too. Healthcare is awful here. Do something for God's sake.

Good. We need solutions to the healthcare crisis which doesn't involve simply throwing more money at a failing system.

Up next is allowing Shoppers Drug Mart cashiers to perform minor surgery

Why can't he just repeal bill 124 and fast track the applications for them to work in a public hospital? .....oh wait, he wouldn't get a kick back that way🤦‍♀️

The other provinces will love that...

Opinion | The warnings about Doug Ford and private health care are coming trueOpinion: Ford’s giant step toward more two-tiered health care should come as no surprise. He's made little secret of his fondness for private health-care companies, and has quietly increased the role of for-profit companies over the years. DougFordMustResign Ontario YOU are funding Fords retirement with this. He will become a multi millionaire through under the table payments on this and the Greenbelt healthcare Maybe the reason Ford is embracing private healthcare is due to the incompetence of our Public Sector Hospital Administrators who are being paid $500k+ a year and couldn’t manage their way out of a wet paper bag Funny we never hear a rational opinion like this from
