Health-care workers from across Canada could soon start practising in Ontario more quickly under legislation the provincial government plans to introduce next month.

Premier Doug Ford says new "as of right" rules would see credentials of health-care workers registered in other provinces and territories automatically recognized in Ontario, without the need to register with a regulatory college in this province.

He says it would allow professionals such as doctors and nurses looking to move to Ontario to get to work as soon as they arrive. Ontario says the changes would mark the first step toward a pan-Canadian portable registration model. The government also says upcoming legislation will allow health professionals including nurses, paramedics and respiratory therapists to temporarily work outside of their regular responsibilities as long as they have the skills and knowledge necessary.

The province says it will provide hospitals with more flexibility to fill in-demand roles, such as during viral surges.Ontario Premier Doug Ford makes an announcement on health care in the province with Health Minister Sylvia Jones in Toronto, Monday, Jan. 16, 2023. Health-care workers from across Canada could soon start practising in Ontario more quickly under legislation the government plans to introduce next month.

This pouching idea makes me think if the RN/RNA know about bill 124 but my biggest worry is that anyone coming to Ont to work is where will they live? We R short on rentals rent is high if a place is found. RNA OMA I think fordnation is lost, drowning & scrambling. Am I alone

Hire filipinos - from the Philippines!

Hire physician assistants!

To work more quickly than in-province doctors? That doesn’t seem fair. They should all be allowed to work at the same speed.

Sound like the patients should be shipped out of Province is there is a plague unfolding. Be better to build a 'mag-lev' rail system that goes Coast to Coast. Do the math. which is greater, Doctors who move from the sticks to the city or the 10,000 patients that follow each one.

Doug Ford just step down now and do everyone a favor

now that all the real info is coming out that the vaccine trails were based on FRAUD shouldn't they drop this plan? or are they determined to follow whatever the failing world economic forum puppets say to do no matter what?

Here’s an idea. Pay them why they deserve. Let the unvaxxed come back to work. Not hard

Is this a fucking parody account?!?!?

Ford proposes something he has no control over. College of Nurses in Ontario is the accreditation body. Similar for Doctors. But just keep parroting Govt PR announcements. Or he going to allow unqualified individuals to work in Private Clinics.

As other provinces are struggling? Shame!

Ford fucks our health care system for years then gives it away and them tries to get doc.’s to Ontario. Ok cool!

What makes him think that they want to relocate to ON? His relationship with medical workers can't be described as a love in.

All the patients need nurses too. But Doug thinks Ontario is in an Episode of House 🤦‍♀️

Such a confusing headline. Is Ford trying to get them to work faster? That would be bad. Speeding up their commute to the office? That would be nice.

LMAO and why would they come to ontario Doug? Your nothing but a wrecking ball with ZERO integrity

If you want to become a teacher, you must study for 6 years in order to graduate receive an annual salary of $ 80k, but if you want to become a premier you need to fail in high school and to receive an annual salary of $165000 this is why Ontario is a failed province

Anything he does his other smoke and mirrors or a Band-Aid. Where I work we are short 17 nurses from our total staff you can’t imagine what we’re going through and he doesn’t really care

capping already insufficient wages at 1% should help lol

UPDATED: Ontario looking to poach health-care workers from other provinces to fill shortages

'Doug Ford proposes to give Ontario tax dollars to his donors more quickly.' Fixed it for you. 🤡

You’re 20 years behind Champ!

We need do the same for politicians, maybe get some ppl who follow through on their promises in a timely matter..

Ford is going about this the correct way - everything is on the table for discussion and consideration, regardless how vested interests like associations and unions feel about it.

Business is booming. fordnation is not about the ppl of ON. Private clinics have been rolling. Now with the green light on, it's time to Cash N Collect. That's y elections r important and, we should take them serious. It's downhill for the regular worker.

More money for everyone involved unless the private clinics are paying bare minimum for their employees. I think this is a good thing for everyone

You and others had to purposely screw up society over covid. 2+ years of corruption, mismanagement and divisiveness has created this mess, not that it was perfect before. Lucky for you, the covid cultists are still asleep.

fordnation you are an absolute disgrace and 🤡

Every province is screaming for Doctors,, nurses , healthcare providers due to the loss of so many with CONSERVATIVE CUTS to healthcare over the last 30 years,

Is this like speed dating?

ANY MD who has a mind probably won't think about coming to fordnation's ON.

Most will not even entertain coming to Ontario

What?

So, like speed chess, but for surgeries? Seems a bit risky, IMO.

HireThemBack And STOP mandating this on people

Poaching cheap, labour for his rich donors! What a guy!

Globe editorial: Doug Ford prescribes a needed dose of private health care in OntarioLarge portions of Canadian medicare have always been delivered by private entities, from doctors to pharmacies Friendly reminder that ford smokes crack. Ford is not a doctor, did he get a medical degree with taxpayer funds we don't know about? STAFFING. he needs to inject staffing in the his shell game of *who we closing today* Correct me if I'm wrong...it's still covered by OHIP. Just using private practices to get stuff done. There's still no out of pocket costs for On residents.

As Ontario looks to private health care, B.C. reinvests in its public systemOntario Premier Doug Ford pointed to B.C. as example of private clinics being used to provide health services, but that province has been bringing private spaces back into the public system “Reinvests”. Meaning throwing more taxpayer $$ into an unsustainable system. Its a money pit. The foundation upon which the system is built is flawed. More $$ cannot fix it until it is torn down and rebuilt from the bottoms up. Innovation required. Govt is incapable of that. BC Health Care the worst in Canada.
