it would raise more money if the govt just taxed doctors, there are lots of them and they all seem to earn a pretty penny.

After 10+ years of Liberal Government, we’re bloody used to it! Do I hear the Doctors complaining about the hideous taxes we pay on alcohol? Being the odd ones out There doesnt seem to bother them funnily enough.

It will force drinks manufacturers to adapt, which they will. Sprite Zero is pretty close to the mark.

That sugar drinks exist still after all the negative stuff we know about them health wise is akin to the worst crimes

Seriously? How depraved is our government exactly? I don’t doubt that this move is the brainchild of politicians & that the Guardian is selling it for them. There should be one exponentially proportional sales tax based on annual expenditure. That would put a cap on wealth.

What exactly is this Sugar tax supposed to achieve?

What evidence is there that this will prevent obesity? Rather than just cost more money for the poor?

Sure but at least water is cheaper than in Europe. How often do you have to pay more for water than beer

Lmao 🤣

Won't somebody think of the dentists.......
