The chief of a northern Ontario First Nation that found the province’s first "plausible burials" says the community is in shock and its members are working hard to ensure survivors and their loved ones have mental health support.

The chief says he is seeing difficult emotions from community members and is feeling overwhelmed as his siblings and ancestors attended the institution. Most of the findings were unmarked, except for five with grave markers, on the grounds of the former institution that the Truth and Reconciliation Commission has said was attended by more than 6,000 Indigenous children between 1897 and 1972.

"We need treatment centres, things like that, because a lot of this is stemming from intergenerational trauma," he said.

Okay what do the Liberals need to distract us from now?

Not 1 body found anywhere period, no proof of anyone getting charged with anything, yet millions and millions given to Indians for what? Plausible?holy fk nice scam going on

Not a single person who lives in Kenora, has been to kenora or knows anything about kenora is “shocked” by this news. It was just a matter of time.

Pick up a shovel and uncover the truth

Annnd still zero proof

Genocide

It was at a cemetery..what were they supposed to do with the dead bodies?

Come back to us when you have CONCRETE EVIDENCE. Enough with this “plausible” BS. Either it was or wasn’t a burial ground, there are no in between. Stop creating issues.

What a shameful civilization Revolution.

Stop jumping to conclusions and assumptions. All burials were recorded so let the investigation begin at least

Dig them up…prove it, don’t assume it

Put shovels in the ground and get them a proper burial they deserve

There are no Mass Graves.

Ugh FFS. Quit it with this lowdown, hateful defamatory bullshit.

We need technology that scans soil for human remains, this guessing and assumptions ain't working

It’s wicked for anyone to believe that those behind such atrocities should continue to be prominent in public life. Their impunity is the reasons crimes don’t stop. They may be doing evil things in subtle ways. Not good those who symbolize generational trauma be in public life.

Let’s get the forensic, archeological and historical teams in and do a complete and thorough investigation of all these sites.First Nations and all Canadians need this done. it is the only way we will get past it.

Honest question. Have they actually dug up any remains at these sites?

They need to do some digging to see what is actually down there.

No remains have been found even when you clowns claimed the same BS last year. But what did happen is churches were burnt down. You people are knocking on a door you dont want answered.

While checking my back yard before I built my deck, I discovered ground anomalies where the original posts were going OMG! I have unmarked graves!!

Yet no human remains have been found at any of these “mass grave” sites

Let’s move this from probable to confirmed. So then, and only then we know what actions to take.

Usually a lot of bodies in the same area means it was a graveyard . I don’t understand the issue here
