As Ontario moves to allow private clinics to perform more surgeries, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said he'll be watching to ensure the principles of Canada's universal public system are respected. NDP Leader Jagmeet Singh is calling for Trudeau to make provinces protecting the public system a condition of any future increase to the federal health transfer.

that will see some for-profit community surgical and diagnostic centres take on certain additional surgeries and other medical procedures with the aim of reducing the provinces' surgical backlogs resulting in considerable wait times for patients.

"Whether we're talking about more access to primary care doctors and teams, whether it's quicker access to mental health supports, whether it's reducing the surgery backlog. There are lots of things that we're working on with the provinces," Trudeau said.

The premiers are asking for Ottawa to boost transfers to 35 per cent up from the current 22 per cent of coverage for health-care costs, while Trudeau has insisted that any increase in federal funds would have to come withSingh also raised concerns over the potential impact on care and attempts to upsell patients "when profits are the priority."

Once again CTV shows themselves to be nothing more than Liberal turd polishers.

I definitely don’t trust Trudeau to monitor this situation. Where is the NDP both provincial and federal? This is their time to shine. There is nothing but almost complete silence all across the country from the NDP. Singh’s lame statement yesterday is completely inadequate.

The thin end of the wedge... Why are Ontarians not rising up on mass.? Once its gone its gone.. You only have to to look across the border guys.. What the fuck is wrong with you?

Singh needs to talk to his boss

Trudeau is transferring money from the working class to the global elites all under the “climate emergency”. If it was true do you think Clinton and Obama and Oprah would be buying up all the waterfront? Now no money for health care! Disgusting

The left is only angry about this because these facilities have non union workers, and the left’s union friends don’t like that. Having privately run facilities deliver certain services of our health care system makes perfect sense. It how it’s done un Europe.

Trudeau insists on concrete plans with accountability before funding Canadians who need healthcare. Currently trying to 'disappear' 2 billion without any oversight for 'the climate'.

Trudope has no idea, it is so painfully apparent he doesn’t know what needs to happen for the country of Canada.

When Saskatchewan funded private MRI's Trudeau had a hissy fit.

All three are a political joke. Jagmeet is Trudeaus wiping boy until there’s an election about to be called and Ford seems to be a liberal puppet. When will be have leaders we can count on to make logical and rational decisions?

Stop the flow of money unless it is used ONLY in public facilities. Do not allow OHIP coverage for those who chose to go to a private facility.

As usual, JustinTrudeau is part of the problem. Never part of the solution. As for theJagmeetSingh, well, being his usual demogogue self.

Singh and Trudeau literally brought in a private dental healthcare plan two months ago.

Unless Trudeau is going to close all the private clinics in Quebec he can sit down and shut up.

Justin Trudeau and his whores of anarchy belong in Collins Bay Penitentiary .

Tommy Douglas is rolling in his grave!

No he won't, he just pretends to be a leader. Even with his MBA in drama, he is a lousy actor.

I mean that perfectly describe his role. “Watching”. Plus sending our tax money to abroad. Cannot wait till he is voted out!

What’s the recourse? Watching isn’t really going to fix this. We’ve seen it coming for months thanks to conservative voters and those who just didn’t vote. Rhetoric from all parties is all that we hear. Provincial opposition parties need to step up. Organize a general strike.

Watching instead of doing is what the Trudeau government does best.

Ooooooo. So scary. He’s quite the lover of Canada when it suits him

Im not a JT fan, but im in total agreement with prime minister in this intake!!!

Would these conditions apply to Quebec?

Does any one remember the documentary Dr. Death/Christopher Duntsch. This is the Americanization of Canadian Politics and Healthcare. This is medical insurance profiteering. That’s Doug Ford.

Phase 2 of Fords master plan to screw up Public Healthcare commences. Hospitals will suffer with staff leaving for private sector… next crisis created… privatized healthcare to the rescue… Fingers cross fordnation 🤡 gets voted out before that happens…

Quebec, dental care, eye care, hearing, physiotherapy, blood clinics and laboratories, cosmetic surgeries etc. All private delivery, all work flawlessly.

It is clear that Junior has lost control of the country. He needs to leave now. TrudeauMustGo

Provinces need to take more control and take more away from the federal gov't. Everything the feds touch turns to garbage and costs taxpayers more of their hard earned money

Singh is not worth the words out of his mouth. He is just “full of himself.”

I'll gladly pay for my private health care.

What are those principles again? Censor, lie, bully and deliver little?

PMJT & Liberal Party are waiting for McKinsey consulting advice on how to spin this. Options are limited & then there's Quebec.

Can't even imagine where Canada would be without out great leader

Dangerous race to privatization But why do the surgeons have to go to a private clinic to perform publicly funded surgeries? Is this how the doctors and nurses are getting a raise without their union? 🤡 No doubt recruitment to staff these private clinics has begun at fast food outlets across the province.
