“My dad also told me that people always get sick. So when I was accepted for dentistry, medicine and chemical studies, I decided I wanted to be a doctor.” “My bursary didn’t cover everything, so when I was 21 years old, I applied for my professional driver’s licence so I could drive a taxi on weekends and in the holidays,” he said.“I used the money I earned for my textbooks and for my studies that were not covered by the bursary. I also bought myself a car.”“I attended classes from Mondays to Thursdays, and on Friday afternoons I drove a taxi until 9pm. On Saturdays and Sundays I got up at 5am and drove until 9pm.

Well done Dr Randall Ortel. Due to having to battle to achieve your goal will make you compassionate & really dedicated. 🏥💉📈 I wish you great success Doc. 🤗👏🏽👍🏽
He was working part time like many other students, don’t create impression that driving a taxi it’s wrong ….
Hope he doesn't stop treating patients suddenly, without indication, and expect patients to collect his fees on his behalf from other patients 😜
Please tag Dr Ortel I am not feeling well
Only 2, at 37? He is lazy

Well done !!
Whites do not have to go through shit to achieve anything
A society where people need not go to such lengths to be whomever they want to be in life is better! The triumph of the human spirit over difficulty is commendable but poverty in any form shouldn't be celebrated nor tolerated.
Partially, it is true. Taxi money can't pay university fees let alone residential expenses. The money was for transport and cafeteria expenses
Well Done on your achievement
doodlehabibi Eye on the prize, knowledge opens doors.
I trust he will give back to his community and not be like all the other doctors who forget their past and chase the money..
He was at my high school, nickname was Ottie and was always a popular guy, very inspirational story.
That's what you call determination to achieve your goals
As if driving a taxi is a shabby job
Bravo, Dr Ortel - may you go from strength to strength.
What are his views on the covid-19 vaccines?
