Toronto Marlies game suspended after fan suffers ‘medical emergency’

Paramedics were called to Coca-Cola Coliseum at around 7:53 p.m., in between the first and second periods of the game. They said on-site medical staff performed CPR on the woman. She was then transported to a local hospital in critical condition.

“After consultation with both teams and the American Hockey League, a decision was made to suspend the game,” the“The Toronto Marlies and MLSE are grateful to the EMS personnel, and fans, who assisted in attending to the emergency and our thoughts are with the fan affected and their family and loved ones.”

Dayn Kent, a Manitoba Moose fan who was at the game, said he saw EMS personnel administering CPR on the woman for around 15 minutes until emergency services arrived. “You could see the person’s partner was also in the stands with their head in their hands, sobbing,” he said, “you could see that it was an elderly woman, silver shoulder-length hair. And she was placed on the gurney.”

Kent said fans waited about half an hour not sure what was going to happen to the game. “The referees came out and we thought ‘oh, they are going to start’ and then the referees went back in and then we saw the trainers packing up the benches and the announcement was made that the game was being postponed.”
