Knievel died while in hospice care surrounded by family. It is unclear when he was diagnosed with the cancer.Just like his father, Knievel was a stuntman in life, performing as many as 300 jumps and breaking 20 records. His final jump came in 2011 when he crossed 150 feet above tractor-trailer trucks at the Spotlight 29 Casino in Coachella, California.
Knievel went on to break records his father couldn't in life. In April 1989, then 26-year-old Knievel successfully landed the 150-foot jump over the Caesars Palace fountains in Las Vegas, Nevada. His own father had tried in 1967, but crashed and was left in a coma for several weeks recovering from his injuries.
Ten years later, Knievel performed a jump of 228 feet over a portion of the Grand Canyon, which his father wanted to attempt in life, but the National Park Service denied the stunt at the time. Knievel was inducted into the Motorcycle Hall of Fame in 2007.CLICK HERE TO READ MORE FROM THE WASHINGTON EXAMINER
