Michael Flatley, the creator and star of the hit show “Riverdance,” has been diagnosed with an “aggressive form of cancer,” according to an announcement on his official Instagram account Wednesday. In the post it was revealed that the 64-year-old “has undergone surgery and is in the care of an excellent team of doctors.” “No further comments will be made at this time. We ask only for your prayers and well wishes,” the post added.
Born in Chicago to Irish parents, the dancer rose to stardom following the 1994 Eurovision Song Contest when his seven-minute “Riverdance” performance during the show’s interval delighted audiences and popularized Irish dancing around the world. The performance was transformed into a feature-length show that opened in February 1995 at the Point Theatre in Dublin. But, after a dispute with the show’s producers, Flatley was fired in October 1995. He went on to create “Lord of the Dance.
Blya ..he has money..maybe it can help him ..
So many people in my generation are getting and dying of cancer, more sad news.
Prayer up for him
I'm not saying anything but you know what I'm saying
Prayers and positive vibes for a speedy recovery… a total remission ❤️🩹😇🙏🕯
I wish the Guy well anyhows . Cancer can be a long hard road to travel apon !!
He was not the creator , they were a duo who worked for RTE, Irish State broadcster & the show originally was an interval act for Eurovision . John Mc Colgan & Moya Docherty were their names & Flatley was just their 1st find as a dancer .
😪
Prayers and thoughts with Michael at this time. One of Ireland's, no the world's most incredible dancers.
Alot of people getting cancer these days. Is it a side effect of the experimental covid injections? Just asking
🙏
