Mounties from Beiseker, Three Hills and Drumheller were deployed to the scene at a rail crossing on Highway 575 between Range Roads 243 and 242. EMS said there were thought to be more than a dozen occupants among the vehicles involved, but only three people required transport for medical care. Paramedics transported an adult in serious, non-life-threatening condition to Foothills hospital in Calgary, first in an ambulance and then in a STARS helicopter.
A pediatric patient was transported to the Alberta Children’s Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, while an adult in their late teens was taken to the Three Hills Health Centre for treatment.Area Mounties had previously advised of poor driving conditions in the area, particularly near Three Hills, where roads were very icy and thick fog was hampering visibility.
